17 year old Bangladesh tennis sensation Zarif Abrar is creating a buzz in the world of tennis. Newly crowned champion of the National Tennis Competition Zarif already has his sights on a career in the ATP Tour. Having played for Bangladesh at junior and senior level, Zarif is bent on bringing glory to his nation on the international stage.
Training at the Hobson Performance Tennis Academy in Florida with top coach Ashley Hobson, Zarif has already achieved outstanding success. The young talent has secured five championship titles in Florida and is still working to master his game with Hobson’s training. His passion for the sport is apparent with his long-term ambition being to compete at ATP and Grand Slam tournaments.
Zarif started at the age of eight with his father Major (Retd) Sazmul Haque, being a former tennis player. As he moved up, his interest in the game increased when he won national titles at different age groups and secured eight national titles between 2016 to 2020. Zarif’s success consists of five titles in age group tournaments in six different nations.
In spite of the difficulties of costly training in the USA, Zarif is not deterred from his ambitions. He wants to play for Bangladesh at the top level in the next Davis Cup in 2025 and his vision goes far beyond the national level.
