Who Are the 16 High-Profile Individuals Presented Before the ICT & Why?

Sixteen high-profile individuals include former ministers, bureaucrats and a justice who were presented before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) this morning on charges of crimes against humanity committed during the July-August mass uprising. The case has drawn significant attention due to the prominence of the accused and the serious nature of the charges.
The individuals facing trial include former law minister Anisul Huq, former industries minister Amir Hossain Amu, former food minister Qamrul Islam, former civil aviation and tourism minister Lt Col (Retd) Faruk Khan, former agriculture minister Abdur Razzaque, former minister and Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haq Inu.

Others in the tribunal include Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, former adviser to the prime minister on power, energy and mineral resources; former minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder; former minister Golam Dastagir Gazi; former justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik; and former home secretary Jahangir Alam. Additionally, former education minister Dipu Moni, former state minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former shipping minister Shajahan Khan and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s adviser and businessman Salman F Rahman were also produced before the tribunal.

The accusations arise from their alleged involvement in actions associated with the mass uprising however, the details of their involvement are yet to be ascertained
