Daylight Saving Time’ refers to changing times in summer adding an hour to the regular time to increase evening daylight and save energy. In particular for North America and Europe, it lets one exercise a daily routine in sync with daylight hours.

In 2025, in North America, DST was on Sunday March 9th at 2:00 AM local standard time, moving clocks forward an hour. Such will extend the waking hours into evenings but will have darker mornings.

It will prove the end of Daylight Saving Time on November 2nd when clocks are set back one hour to standard time. However, there are some regions like Arizona and Hawaii within the U.S. where the practice is not observed. For Europe, the clock changes to Daylight Saving Time on March 30th at 1:00 AM GMT.

US President Donald Trump has expressed opposition to DST calling it “inconvenient and costly.” After winning the election last year, he stated that he and Republicans would work to “eliminate” it. However, when asked about the issue recently, Trump admitted, “It’s a 50-50 issue, and when something is split like that, it’s hard to get excited about it.”

The debate over DST continues with some favoring extended daylight in the evening while others prefer brighter mornings.
