Serious protests recently hit the streets of বাংলাদেশ yet again, resulting in dozens of arrests. It comes months after violent agitations resulted in the ouster of long-time former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from the country.

This time, protests happened in support of Palestine. Demonstrators attacked a number of business outlets, including those belonging to multinational companies like KFC and Domino’s Pizza, according to a PTI report.

The vandalism occurred on Monday and police later launched raids and arrested 56 people allegedly involved in the acts. The protests started of the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, happening from Monday until Thursday in Dhaka.

The Summit is aimed at attracting global entrepreneurs as Bangladesh seeks both foreign and domestic funding. The event is bringing together hundreds of investors, policymakers and businesses from across the globe to explore Bangladesh’s investment landscape.

The protest rallies on Monday happened to express support for Palestinians and condemn Israeli attacks on Gaza. But the demonstrations soon turned violent as mobs started attacking shops and businesses in different locations across the country, as per officials.
