The Bangladesh team with its hopes and aspirations revived by the success of the semi-final in the 2017 edition, approaches the subsequent ICC Champions Trophy scheduled for 2025, with great confidence. Despite a recent patchy spell, the team has come through in flying colors all thanks to their resilience on tour to the West Indies, where they drew the Test series 1-1 in the ODI series and later bounced back with a dominant 3-0 victory in the T20I series.
Bangladesh will look to put forth higher expectations under the leadership of Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who would like to carry on his proven pedigree from the 2017 Champions Trophy. He led the team in the earlier edition to a semi-final berth, with key performances from Shakib Al-Hasan and Mahmudullah, including a decisive win over New Zealand in Cardiff.
Shanto will have the benefit of a senior team, specifically Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim, with him. The captain believes in the mastery of his squad to compete with the best, stating boldly, “We are going to the Champions Trophy to become champions and All eight teams deserve to be champions in this tournament. They are all quality teams. I believe our team has the ability. No one will feel extra pressure”
