Australian pace sensation Alana King has been presented the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for February 2025 based on her match winning effort during the Women’s Ashes. This is the first time King has won this monthly award, further adding some feathers to her already heavy cap as a rising star in world cricket.
A complete performance came to life during the high-octane Test match at the historical MCG when King dismantled the entire England batting order with a brilliant fast-bowling performance scalping nine wickets for just 98 runs.

Giving England a dose of its own medicine, she broke the back of their lineup in the first innings with 4-45 before returning to claim 5-53, this helped the Australians victory by 122 runs to protect their proud legacy as world champions.
Although she did not contribute significantly to the batting with only three runs in overall, she was impressive with her all-round performances, quite justified with two catches taken. Making it three months on the row that Australian Players gained an award after Sutherland (December 2024) and Beth Mooney (January 2025), her triumph stands out as the individual celebration of a player but also the overwhelming tribute to Australian women’s cricket.
