Bangladesh government has pulled out Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and President Police Medal (PPM) to 103 police officials including big names like former IGP of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Benazir Ahmed recent ex-IGP and Asaduzzaman Mia ex Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner. The revocation was in response to their alleged overstretch in the 2018 national election, which was highly controversial.

A government gazette notification signed by Tausif Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, has declared that these officers’ awards are revoked on their conduct in the parliamentary elections of December 30, 2018. Besides, the government has ordered the officers to refund the money paid to them regarding the medals.
This decision has come after reviewing the actions of the officers during the polls, widely criticized for irregularities and political influences. The government has taken this step to uphold medal integrity and ensure that awards are given to officers who truly deserve it because of service and ethical conduct.
The notification stated revocation of 2018 medal allocations for both BPM and PPM awards of the above mentioned officers.
