The National Sadakatul Fitra Fixation Committee has fixed the Fitra rates for 2025, with the minimum being Tk 110 and the maximum Tk 2,805 per individual. This was done at a meeting organized at the Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, which was chaired by Maulana Mufti Abdul Maleque, President of the National Fitra Fixing Committee and the Khatib of the mosque.
Fitra is a philanthropic contribution given by well off Muslims for the welfare of poor people before performing the Eid-Ul-Fitr prayer. The Fitra price for this year has been revised keeping in view the prevailing market rates of basic food commodities like flour, barley, dates, raisins and cheese. The amount kept fixed enables Muslims to contribute as per their economic strength either in the form of foodstuffs or by contributing the equivalent market price.
Comparatively, the minimum Fitra last year was Tk 115 and the maximum Tk 2,970. The adjustment this year demonstrates the variation in the rates of these food items, gathered from all the divisions of the country.
The session was graced by prominent members of the Islamic Foundation, such as Maulana Syed Mohammad Mosaddeque Billah Al Madani, Dr. Khalilur Rahman Madani, Maulana Shah Mohammad Nesarul Huq and other prominent scholars. The committee highlighted the significance of this donation in building community support during the Eid festivals.
