A total lunar eclipse, the ‘Blood Worm Moon’ will take place on March 13th to 14th 2025. The name arose due to the reddish hue the Moon obtains during totality due to Rayleigh scattering where blue light is filtered out by the atmosphere allowing the red and orange hues to dominate. The term ‘Worm Moon’ refers to the full moon of March, a traditional reference to earthworms emerging as winter comes to an end.
